BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) reportedly will roll out the Qin L EV, its latest affordable all-electric offering, next week.
The Qin L EV will be officially launched on March 12, and the all-electric midsize sedan will be sold in BYD's Dynasty lineup sales channels, local automotive media Auto Home reported today.
The vehicle is built on BYD's e-Platform 3.0 Evo platform and comes standard with the God's Eye C smart driving system, with the smart driving solution being the DiPilot 100, the report noted.
The Qin L EV will feature a rear-motor rear-wheel drive system with a range of 545 kilometers, according to the report.
Separately, invitations circulating on Chinese social media indicate that BYD will launch the Qin L EV at its Shenzhen headquarters, and a launch event will begin at 7:30 pm Beijing time the same day.
BYD launched the e-Platform 3.0 Evo on May 10, 2024, an upgraded version of the all-electric e-Platform 3.0 that brought a higher level of integration.
The company at that time launch the Sealion 07 EV, the first model of the all-electric SUV based on the e-Platform 3.0 Evo.
BYD announced on February 10 the God's Eye system, which consists of three branches -- God's Eye A, God's Eye B, and God's Eye C. The God's Eye C system is mainly used in BYD-branded affordable models.
The Qin L EV made it into a regulatory catalog released by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on January 10, showing the sedan's length, width, and height at 4,720 mm, 1,880 mm, and 1,495 mm, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.
The Qin L EV is powered by an electric motor with a maximum power of 110 kW and a top speed of 160 kilometers per hour, according to its filing information.
On February 24, BYD began previewing the Qin L EV, calling it a mid-size all-electric sedan aimed at a younger demographic.
There is no information on the price of the Qin L EV.
BYD has a hybrid sedan called the Qin L DM-i that was launched in May 2024 and is currently offered in five variants in China with starting prices of RMB 99,800 ($13,770), RMB 109,800, RMB 119,800, RMB 129,800, and RMB 139,800 respectively.
The Qin family is one of BYD's best-selling models, selling 732,252 units in 2024 and contributing 17.14 percent of BYD's new energy vehicle (NEV) sales, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
In addition to the Qin L DM-i, the Qin family of models includes the Qin Plus DM-i, and the Qin Plus EV.
