Retail sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) in China continued to see a sequential decline in February, though the rate of decline narrowed significantly.
In February, retail sales of passenger NEVs in China totaled 720,000 units, up 85 percent year-on-year, but down 3 percent from January, according to preliminary data released today by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
In January, retail sales of passenger NEVs in China were 744,000 units, up 10.5 percent year-on-year but 42.9 percent lower than in December, according to data released by the CPCA last month.
The higher year-on-year growth was mainly due to the fact that last year's Chinese New Year holiday was all in February -- February 10-17 -- while this year the holiday ran from January 28 to February 4.
So far this year, cumulative retail sales of China's passenger NEVs were at 1.465 million units, up 38 percent year-on-year, according to the CPCA.

From February 1-9, China's average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars were 24,379 units, flat year-on-year but down 58 percent from the same period last month.
During February 10-16, average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars were 52,656, up 169 percent year-on-year but down 21 percent from the same period last month.
During February 17-23, average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars were 57,916, up 53 percent year-on-year but down 22 percent from the same period last month.
During February 24-28, China's average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars were 157,432, up 13 percent year-on-year and up 112 percent from the same period last month.
So far this year, China's passenger car wholesale sales are up 13 percent year-on-year to 3,882,000 units.
