Hours later, Xiaomi EV updated the SU7 order count at 11:13 pm Beijing time on Friday, saying that firm orders had exceeded 15,000 units.
Xiaomi officially launched the SU7 Ultra at an event last night, when it didn't announce a date for the start of deliveries, saying only that deliveries would begin soon.
The SU7 Ultra is Xiaomi EV's ultra-performance electric sedan based on the regular SU7, with three motors capable of delivering 1,548 Ps of maximum horsepower.
The model can sprint from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 1.98 seconds and from 0 to 200 kilometers per hour in 6.09 seconds, and Xiaomi claimed it is the fastest four-door production car on the planet.
The SU7 Ultra starts at RMB 529,900 ($72,930), which is RMB 285,000, or 34.97 percent, below Xiaomi's previously marketed pre-sales price of RMB 814,900.
Customers in China can order a customized SU7 Ultra starting at 10 pm last night and wait for arrangements to be made for production.
Additionally, similar to what was done when the regular SU7 went on sale, Xiaomi has already produced a number of SU7 Ultra vehicles, and those interested can lock in their orders right away for quick delivery.
Sixteen minutes after ordering opened, Xiaomi EV announced on Weibo that the SU7 Ultra had received over 6,900 orders in 10 minutes.
Early this morning, Xiaomi EV said the SU7 Ultra reached its annual sales target of 10,000 units within 2 hours of availability.
Xiaomi EV will increase production capacity to speed up deliveries of the model, it said in a Q&A today.
On March 3, Xiaomi will give the SU7 Ultra its overseas debut at the MWC 2025 event in Barcelona, Spain, it said today.
Test-drive cars of the SU7 Ultra aren't widely available at the moment, and Xiaomi EV's sales will invite customers to test drives in the order in which they pay deposits.
Xiaomi added five new stores in China in February, and now has 220 stores in 65 Chinese cities, Xiaomi EV said on Weibo today.
