China FAW Group's Hongqi brand today launched the Tiangong 05, an all-electric mid-size sedan, following the launch of the Tiangong 08 electric SUV (sport utility vehicle) last month.
Hongqi is offering four variants of the model with starting prices of RMB 159,800 ($22,020), RMB 169,800, RMB 175,800 and RMB 185,800 respectively.
The Tiangong 05 measures 4,820 mm in length, 1,915 mm in width and 1,480 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm.
The model is based on the conventional 400 V platform and is powered by a rear electric motor with a maximum power of 210 kW and a maximum torque of 317 Nm. This powertrain allows the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds.
The two less expensive variants are powered by lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs with a capacity of 62 kWh and both have a CLTC range of 550 kilometers.
The other two variants are powered by LFP packs with a capacity of 85 kWh and both have a CLTC range of 750 kilometers.
The model supports fast charging, with the two less expensive variants having a peak charging power of 200 kW and the other two at 265 kW.
With fast charging, the Tiangong 05 can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in 20 minutes.
In addition to these four variants based on the 400 V platform, Hongqi has also announced two variants for the model based on the 900 V high-voltage platform, but no specification details or pricing have been announced.
This is the second battery electric vehicle (BEV) model Hongqi has launched this year based on its Tiangong modular platform.
On January 7, Hongqi launched the Tiangong 08 all-electric mid-to-large-size SUV with a starting price of RMB 239,800 yuan.
