BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) will launch its electric compact SUV Atto 2 in France, which is known as the Yun Up in China, Reuters reported today, citing the company's director of sales network in France.
The compact SUV was presented on Tuesday at the La Défense Arena in Paris.
With a starting price of 28,990 euros ($30,440) in France, the Atto 2 will add a competitive product to the B-segment SUV space in Europe, the report said.
Its starting price is 5,000 euros less than the Kia Niro, 6,000 euros less than the Opel Mokka-e, and 7,000 euros less than the Peugeot e-2008, although the last two cars from Stellantis are eligible for a French subsidy of up to 4,000 euros, the Reuters report noted.
BYD launched the Yuan Up in China on March 26, 2024, offering four variants with a current starting price of RMB 96,800 ($13,330).
The compact SUV measures 4,310 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width and 1,675 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,620 mm.
On January 15, BYD said it showed nine models, including the Yuan Up, at the Brussels auto show, marking the compact SUV's European debut.
On February 6, the Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker said it had launched the Yuan Up -- rebranded locally as the Atto 2 -- in Europe.
