A regulatory filing has revealed the core specs of Xpeng's (NYSE: XPEV) G7 SUV (sport utility vehicle), after the company released the first images of the model yesterday.

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) today released its latest catalog of models that will be allowed to be sold for public comment, and the Xpeng G7 is included.

The public can submit their feedback between January 11-17. Entry into the catalog is the last major regulatory process by which a model can be allowed to be sold in China.

The Xpeng G7 has two pages in the catalog, with model numbers NHQ6490BEVMA and NHQ6490BEVMB, both produced at Xpeng's factory in Guangzhou, Guangdong province. It has another factory in Zhaoqing, Guangdong.

The G7 measures 4,892 mm in length, 1,925 mm in width and 1,655 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,890 mm, according to the filing.

Those dimensions are close to and slightly larger than those of Tesla's (NASDAQ: TSLA) facelifted Model Y, which was unveiled earlier today and has dimensions of 4,797 mm, 1,920 mm, 1,624 mm in length, width and height, respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,890 mm.

The Xpeng G7 with model number NHQ6490BEVMA has 2,085 kg and 2,100 kg versions, while the other one with model number NHQ6490BEVMB has 2,145 kg and 2,160 kg versions.

The five-seater all-electric model supports a top speed of 202 kilometers per hour.

Both the models in the catalog are powered by a single electric motor with a peak power of 218 kW, and carry lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries from CALB.

Yesterday, less than an hour after uncamouflaged spy shots of Tesla's facelifted Model Y were revealed, Xpeng vice president Yu Tao shared three images of the G7 on Weibo.

The G7 will perhaps be the most competitive SUV in the RMB 250,000 ($34,100) class this year, he said yesterday.

The model looks great, is loaded with AI technology, and remains a space monster, making it a definite first choice for families, Yu said.

Space monster is the term Xpeng previously used to describe the P7+ sedan.
