A regulatory filing has revealed more information about Tesla's (NASDAQ: TSLA) facelifted Model Y, after the model was rolled out in China earlier today.
China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) today released its latest catalog of models that will soon be allowed to be sold for public comment, and the facelifted Model Y is included.
The public can submit their feedback between January 11-17. Entry into the catalog is the last major regulatory process by which a model can be allowed to be sold in China.
The facelifted Model Y has three pages in the catalog, with the product model numbers TSL6480BEVAR5, TSL6480BEVAR6, and TSL6480BEVBA7.
The length, width and height of the model are 4,797 mm, 1,920 mm and 1,624 mm respectively and the wheelbase is 2,890 mm.
It comes in two weight specifications of 1,921 kg and 1,992 kg, in line with what Tesla announced earlier today.
The TSL6480BEVAR5 and TSL6480BEVAR6 are both single-motor models with a peak power of 220 kW, and are powered by lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries supplied by CATL.
The TSL6480BEVBA7 is a dual-motor model with a front motor with a peak power of 137 kW and a rear motor with a peak power of 194 kW, and is powered by lithium ternary batteries supplied by South Korea's LG Energy Solution.
Earlier today, Tesla's China website listed the facelifted five-seat Model Y, and began offering two variants it calls the “Launch Series”.
Its website indicates that deliveries of the revamped Model Y are expected to begin in March, pending regulatory approval, which is essentially the regulatory filing that was announced today.
Tesla is offering two variants of the facelifted Model Y, including a rear-wheel-drive version with a starting price of RMB 263,500 ($35,940) and a long-range all-wheel-drive version with a starting price of RMB 303,500.
For comparison, the Model Y previously available in China had three variants -- a rear-wheel-drive version, a long-range all-wheel-drive version, and an all-wheel-drive performance version -- with starting prices of RMB 249,900, RMB 290,900, and RMB 354,900, respectively.
This means that the entry-level version of the facelifted Model Y is priced up by RMB 13,600, or 5.44 percent, over its predecessor, while the long-range all-wheel-drive version is up by RMB 12,600, or 4.33 percent.
The sales deadline for the facelifted Model Y Launch Series is February 28, and customers who order the model before then can get an additional two years or 40,000 kilometers of extended warranty.
Its rear-wheel drive version is powered by a battery pack with a capacity of 62.5 kWh and has a CLTC range of 593 kilometers.
The long-range all-wheel-drive version comes with a 78.4 kWh battery pack and has a CLTC range of 719 kilometers, which Tesla said is the longest-range Model Y in history.
