China FAW Group's Hongqi brand today launched the Tiangong 08, an all-electric mid-to-large-size SUV (sport utility vehicle).

The model is based on Hongqi's Tiangong modular platform, which can cover compact cars, large-size cars, SUVs, MPVs (multi-purpose vehicles), and crossover models.

The Tiangong 08 is available in five variants with starting prices of RMB 239,800 ($32,730), RMB 249,800, RMB 279,800, RMB 309,800 and RMB 339,800, respectively.

The five-seater SUV measures 4,925 mm in length, 1,950 mm in width and 1,680 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 3,000 mm.

Its lowest priced variant carries a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack with a capacity of 75 kWh and a CLTC range of 520 km.

The two highest priced variants are powered by a Li-ion ternary battery pack with a capacity of 111 kWh and have a CLTC range of 730 kilometers and 680 kilometers respectively.

The two variants in the middle of the price range are powered by a LFP battery pack with a capacity of 85 kWh and CLTC ranges of 605 km and 565 km respectively.

Its powertrain includes single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor four-wheel drive options. The single-motor versions have a peak motor power of 253 kW and peak torque of 450 Nm, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds.

Its dual-motor versions have an extra front motor with a total peak power of 455 kW and peak torque of 756 Nm, and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.

The Tiangong 08 supports fast charging, and can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in as little as 20 minutes.
