SAIC-GM-Wuling announced today that it saw its first power battery produced in Indonesia roll off the production line, becoming the first Chinese auto brand to realize power battery production in Indonesia.
Wuling called the battery Magic Battery, saying the project took only 4 months and a half from startup to production.
Magic Battery is an electric vehicle (EV) battery developed in-house by Wuling, integrating the latest battery technologies, it said.
Wuling has achieved a record of zero spontaneous combustion for 2.4 million new energy vehicles (NEVs) in China, which will serve to consolidate its leading position in Indonesia's NEV market, it said.
In 2024, Wuling retailed 13,492 NEVs in Indonesia, up 27 percent year-on-year, according to the company.
Since the start of its NEV rollout in Indonesia in 2022, Wuling has cumulatively sold 28,768 NEVs in the Southeast Asian country, with a market share of over 40 percent, it said.
