The N9 SUV will be launched in the first quarter, and Denza will also launch a new MPV in 2025 that will be bigger and more powerful than the D9 MPV currently on sale, an executive said.
Denza, BYD's (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) premium new energy vehicle (NEV) brand, revealed part of its product plans for 2025 as the new year has arrived.
The Denza N9 SUV (sport utility vehicle) will be launched in the first quarter, the brand's sales chief, Zhao Changjiang, said in an open letter yesterday.
Denza will also launch a new MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) model in 2025 that is bigger and more powerful than the D9 MPV currently on sale, Zhao said, according to the open letter, which Denza shared on Weibo.
Zhao did not mention any further details about the two new models.
Denza's current models on sale include the N7 SUV, Z9 sedan, Z9GT hatchback, and D9 MPV.
The brand started previewing the N9 SUV in October 2024, and Zhao said at the time that the new SUV would be powered by BYD's e3 technology.
The e3 technology can be considered as a scaled down version of BYD's e⁴ technology built for ultra-luxury cars, bringing tri-motor independent drive with dual-motor independent steering at the rear wheels. The Z9GT, which was launched on September 20, is the first model to feature the e3 technology.
The Denza N9 is a six-seat hybrid with a length, width and height of 5,258 mm, 2,030 mm and 1,830 mm, respectively, and a wheelbase of 3,125 mm, according to a previous regulatory filing.
The model is powered by three electric motors, with the front motor having a peak power of 200 kW and the two motors at the back both having 240 kW.
It also has an engine with a displacement of 1,995 ml and 152 kW of power output.
The D9 is the first model for the Denza brand after its 2022 brand restructuring. It was initially launched in August 2022, with deliveries beginning in October of the same year. On December 27, Denza rolled out the 2025 D9.
Denza delivered a record 15,059 vehicles in December, bringing full-year 2024 sales to 126,035, essentially flat from 2023, according to figures it announced yesterday.
The brand has yet to release breakdown figures for different models, though the D9 has sold around 10,000 units per month in most months over the past two years, according to previously available figures.
In addition to mentioning the two models, Zhao also said in the open letter that Denza would invest more in research and development in areas including artificial intelligence (AI) and large models in 2025.
