The most noticeable change in the model from the existing Nio models is the center screen that has gone from vertical to horizontal.
Nio (NYSE: NIO) will revamp its current models next year, and now spy shots suspected to be of its model are starting to emerge.
Local media outlet Xchuxing today shared 2 spy photos of what it said is the facelifted Nio ET5 Touring undergoing road tests.
The most noticeable change in the model compared to the existing Nio models is that the center screen has become horizontal from vertical, the report noted.
However, it remains unknown as to whether the new model will utilize the same Cedar vehicle system as the ET9, as it will be built on an upgraded version of the NT 2.0 platform, rather than the NT 3.0 platform, the report said.
Nio launched the ET5 Touring, a station wagon variant of the regular ET5 sedan, in China on June 15, 2023 and its deliveries started the next day.
The company unveiled the ET9 executive flagship sedan on Nio Day 2023 on December 23, 2023, and officially launched the model on Nio Day 2024 on December 21 this year.
The ET9 is the Nio brand's first model based on the NT 3.0 platform with a vehicle system called Cedar.
Nio's first-generation NT 1.0-based models were based on the Aspen vehicle system, and the NT 2.0 models on the Banyan; The Onvo sub-brand's vehicle system is called Coconut.
The biggest change to the NT 3.0 platform is that the center screen has gone from vertical to horizontal, just like the ET9 and Onvo's first model, the L60.
In addition to the ET9, Nio will have a 7 series model next year that will be upgraded based on the NT 3.0 platform, Xchuxing's report said.
Nio is currently delivering eight models -- ES8, ES7, ES6, EC7, EC6, ET7, ET5, ET5 Touring. Deliveries of the ET9 are set to begin in March 2025.
In an earnings call on November 20, Nio management said the company would enter a new product cycle starting in 2025, with new model beginning deliveries under the Onvo and Firefly brands.
In 2025 and 2026, Nio Inc would have new models on the market as well as facelifts to existing models, its management said.
Next year the Nio brand would switch to a new generation platform, with the first product being the ET9, followed by new products or facelifts of existing products, the company said in November.
The Onvo brand would have two family SUVs on the market in 2025, a mid-to-large-size 6/7-seater SUV and a large five-seater SUV, according to the earnings call.
Nio officially launched the Firefly brand on Nio Day 2024 and had the sub-brand's first model -- with the same name as the brand -- unveiled.
The first Firefly-branded model began pre-sales in China for RMB 148,800 ($20,390) on Nio Day 2024 and would officially launch in April 2025.
Onvo would launch two SUVs in the second half of 2025, and the Nio-branded facelifts would have larger dimensions, lower costs, and more LiDARs, according to a Goldman Sachs research note on December 27.
