Xpeng said its factory is in full swing producing the Mona M03, with an average of one car rolling off the assembly line every 72 seconds.
Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) announced today that it saw its 50,000th Mona M03 roll off the line, four months after the electric sedan model was launched.
The company's plant is in full production mode for the Mona M03, with an average of one car rolling off the line every 72 seconds, Xpeng said on Weibo.
“(The plant) is on full throttle and just hoping to get vehicles delivered to you soon,” the company said.
Xpeng didn't mention any more details, but shared a video showing the production line of the Mona M03.
Xpeng officially launched the Mona M03 on August 27, offering three variants with starting prices of RMB 119,800 ($16,410), RMB 129,800 and RMB 155,800 respectively.
The sedan becomes the least expensive of Xpeng's on-sale models, at roughly half the price of Tesla's (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model 3.
Deliveries of the two lower-priced variants of the Mona M03 began in late August, while deliveries of the highest-priced Max variant are set to begin after the Chinese New Year holiday.
The upcoming Chinese New Year holiday runs from January 28 to February 4, 2025.
The Mona M03 has been one of Xpeng's most successful models this year, garnering more than 30,000 firm orders in the first 48 hours of its launch, according to figures announced by the company on the first day of the Chengdu auto show on August 30.
On September 14, the electric vehicle (EV) maker's chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng said in a Weibo post that the Mona M03's production capacity was expanded twice in 10 days to meet delivery demand.
On November 15, Xpeng said on the first day of the Guangzhou auto show that the Mona M03's monthly production capacity would reach 20,000 units before the Chinese New Year to support the model's hot sales.
Chinese customers who order the Mona M03 now can get deliveries in 5-9 weeks, according to information monitored by CnEVPost.
Xpeng delivered 30,895 vehicles in November, the first time it has exceeded the 30,000 mark and the third consecutive month of record highs, according to data it released on December 1.
The Mona M03 continued to deliver more than 10,000 units in November, Xpeng said at the time, without mentioning specific numbers.
The electric sedan delivered 11,962 units in November, marking the third consecutive month over 10,000 after 10,023 in September and 10,203 in October, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
