Luxeed has launched two EREV variants for the R7 with a starting price of RMB 249,800 ($34,230) and deliveries are set to begin on January 5.
Luxeed, the new brand jointly created by Huawei and Chinese automaker Chery, has added extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants to the R7 coupe SUV (sport utility vehicle) to expand its potential customer base.
Luxeed today launched two EREV variants for the R7 -- Pro and Max -- with starting prices of RMB 249,800 ($34,230) and RMB 289,800, respectively, and deliveries are set to begin on January 5.
The Luxeed R7 was initially launched on September 24, when only battery electric vehicle (BEV) variants were available at a starting price of RMB 259,800.
The model is the second under the Luxeed brand after the Luxeed S7 sedan, and the first coupe SUV under Huawei's HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) business.
The Luxeed R7 EREV has the same dimensions as the BEV variant, with length, width and height of 4,956 mm, 1,981 mm and 1,634 mm respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,950 mm.
The EREV uses Huawei's DriveOne motor and Chery's fifth-generation EREV-specific engine with a thermal efficiency of 44.5 percent, Luxeed said.
The engine has a displacement of 1.5 L and produces a maximum power of 115 kW. The rear-mounted single motor produces a maximum power of 200 kW. The powertrain enables the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds.
Both hybrid variants are powered by a lithium iron phosphate battery pack with a capacity of 37 kWh, which provides a CLTC battery range of 251 kilometers. At full fuel and full charge, the model has a combined CLTC range of 1,570 kilometers.
The Pro version of the Luxeed R7 EREV does not come with LiDAR, while the Max version comes with a 192-channel LiDAR.
Luxeed is offering limited time purchase entitlements to customers who buy the R7 EREV variants before February 5. For the Pro version, it's RMB 31,000 worth of entitlements including zero-gravity seats, smart driving software, while the Max version is RMB 42,000 worth of entitlements.
The Luxeed R7 delivered 8,983 cars in November, according to figures released by HIMA earlier this month. Earlier delivery figures for the model are not available.
On November 26, Luxeed said the R7 had accumulated more than 42,000 firm orders after 2 months on the market.
