Maextro, the new automotive brand jointly created by Huawei and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC), saw the completion of its first dedicated factory in preparation for the launch of its first model, the Maextro S800 sedan.

The Maextro factory was completed on December 16 in Hefei, Anhui province, where JAC is headquartered, with a ceremony attended by JAC and Huawei executives, and local officials, according to a JAC announcement yesterday.

The facility is a world-class smart factory that is expected to have an annual output value of more than RMB 100 billion ($13.7 billion) when it reaches production, said Xiang Xingchu, JAC's chairman and general manager.

Maextro is the fourth new brand Huawei has launched with a local carmaker and the highest positioned under Huawei's HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) umbrella.

The other three brands under the HIMA business are Stelato, which Huawei co-built with BAIC Group, Aito, which it co-built with Seres Group, and Luxeed, which it co-built with Chery.

Earlier this month, the Maextro S800 made it into a regulatory filing catalog with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), bringing the core specs to light.

The model measures 5,480 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width and 1,536 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,370 mm, and is available in 4-seat and 5-seat variants.

Similar to the models from other brands under the HIMA umbrella, the Maextro S800 will be available in battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants.

In terms of motor arrangement, the Maextro S800 is available in dual-motor and tri-motor versions.
