Tesla's (NASDAQ: TSLA) deliveries in China grew last month, as exports from the Shanghai plant dropped significantly.

That means the US electric vehicle (EV) maker sold 73,490 vehicles in China in November, its highest month this year, CnEVPost calculations show.

That's up 12.19 percent from 65,504 vehicles in the same month last year and up 81.52 percent from 40,485 in October.

Tesla has a factory in Shanghai that produces the Model 3 sedan and Model Y crossover, both for deliveries to local customers and as an export hub for it.

Tesla's pattern is to produce cars for export in the first half of the quarter and for the local market in the second half, it previously said.

Giga Shanghai's exports in November were the lowest since June 2022, down 68.30 percent from 16,928 a year earlier and down 80.69 percent from 27,795 in October, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

Tesla China's overall sales including exports in November were down 4.34 percent from 82,432 in the same month a year ago while up 15.49 percent from 68,280 vehicles in October.

For the January-November period, Tesla's retail sales in China were 574,175 vehicles, up 8.77 percent year-on-year.

Including exports from the Shanghai plant, Tesla's China operations saw wholesale sales of 822,894 vehicles in the January-November period, down 3.60 percent year-on-year.

Of Tesla China's November sales including exports, Model Y was 46,595 units, contributing 59.09 percent of sales. This is a 20.26 percent decrease from 58,433 in the same month last year, but a 10.24 percent increase from 42,265 in October.

Model 3 sales, including exports, were 32,261 units, contributing to 40.91 percent of Tesla China's November wholesale sales. That's up 34.43 percent from 23,999 a year ago and up 24.01 percent from 26,015 in October.

Retail sales figures for the Model 3 and Model Y in China in November are not yet available.

Industry-wide, China's retail sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) reached a record 1,268,000 units in November, up 50.5 percent year-on-year and up 5.9 percent from October.

Retail sales of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) in China totaled 758,000 units in November, up 36.7 percent year-on-year and up 4.9 percent from October, contributing 59.8 percent of all NEV retail sales.

This means that Tesla's share of China's NEV market was 5.80 percent in November, up from 3.39 percent in October but down from 7.79 percent a year earlier, CnEVPost calculations show.

In China's BEV market, Tesla's share was 9.70 percent in November, up from 6.02 percent in October but down from 11.87 percent a year earlier.
