Avatr Technology, which is backed by Changan Automobile, , and , has launched the updated Avatr 11, bringing extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants to the SUV (sport utility vehicle).

The Changan subsidiary today rolled out the updated Avatr 11, its second model after the Avatr 07 SUV to offer both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) options.

The Avatr 11, the first Avatr model and the first premium vehicle in China to be fully equipped with Huawei Inside, Huawei's full-stack smart car solution, as standard, was officially launched in August 2022.

The SUV was previously available only in BEV options, and on August 21, Avatr unveiled an extended-range system called Kunlun, which was first used by the Avatr 07, which went on sale on September 26.

Most of China's earliest EV startups initially targeted the BEV market, but experience over the past few years has shown that PHEVs without range anxiety, including EREVs, are more popular.

EREVs are powered only by batteries, so drivers get the driving experience of a BEV while getting a range comparable to that of a fuel vehicle.

The Avatr 11 measures 4895 mm in length, 1970 mm in width and 1601 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2975 mm.

The SUV is available in two EREV variants with a starting price of RMB 279,900 ($38,480) and RMB 299,900 respectively.

Its BEV variants have three options with starting prices of RMB 339,900, RMB 369,900 and RMB 429,900 respectively.

The Avatr 11 EREV is powered by the Freevoy battery from CATL, which was launched on October 24 and is a hybrid-specific battery pack.

The battery pack has a capacity of 39.05 kWh and provides a battery range of 225 kilometers. It has a peak charge multiplier of 3 C and takes 15 minutes to charge from 30 percent to 80 percent.

At full fuel and full charge, the model has a CLTC range of up to 1,065 kilometers.

The Avatr 11 EREV is built on the Kunlun extended-range system and Avatr claimed that the battery will still function in temperatures ranging from -35°C to 65°C.

Both EREV variants are single-motor, rear-wheel drive models that can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 6.9 seconds and support a top speed of 200 kilometers per hour.

The Avatr 11 BEV is powered by a Li-ion ternary battery pack from CATL with a capacity of 116.79 Wh.

The least expensive variant of the BEV variant is a single-motor rear-wheel drive model that has a CLTC range of up to 815 kilometers. The other two variants are both dual-motor four-wheel drive models with a CLTC range of 760 kilometers.

The Avatr 11 BEV is powered by the latest generation Huawei DriveONE 800V silicon carbide electric drive system, and the four-wheel drive version can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.
