Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) has once again made staffing changes to its smart driving team, following the company's strong push for end-to-end solutions, a report from local media outlet 36kr said yesterday.

The company has designated the head for the delivery of end-to-end technology as Xia Zhongpu, reporting directly to smart driving head Lang Xianpeng, according to the report.

This is an organizational restructuring for long-term technology pre-production after Li Auto's end-to-end technology development achieved milestones, the report said, citing a person familiar with the matter.

The behavioral intelligence department led by Xia was upgraded from a second-tier department to a first-tier department in Li Auto's smart driving team, the report said.

Xia previously served on Baidu's autonomous driving team, where he was responsible for the technical direction of the fusion of planning and control of the smart driving system with AI neural networks, which is one of the key challenges in the realization of an end-to-end solution, the report noted.

Since coming to Li Auto, Xia has been responsible for end-to-end AI modeling and has seen his rank rise quickly from level 19 to level 21 in two years, according to the report.

Li Auto is further betting on next-generation end-to-end solutions, as well as L4 autonomous driving technology, according to 36kr.

As technology evolves and computing power increases, unsupervised L4 autonomous driving would be realized within three years, Li Auto founder, chairman and CEO Li Xiang had said.
