HIMA's available models will exceed 10 next year, and one of the key models will be the Aito M8, which will compete with Li Auto's Li L9.
Huawei's HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) business will almost double the number of models available next year, and will launch a model to compete with Li Auto's (NASDAQ: LI) Li L9, according to a local media report.
HIMA's available models will exceed 10 next year, almost doubling from the current six, local media outlet 36kr said in a report yesterday.
Next year's models under the HIMA umbrella will include the M5, M7, M8 and M9 under the Aito brand, the S9 and its extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variant under the Stelato brand, the S7 and R7 under the Luxeed brand, as well as the Maextro S800 and the second Maextro model.
By comparison, the six models currently on sale under the HIMA business include Aito's M5, M7 and M9, Luxeed's S7 and R7, and Stelato's S9.
Aito is a joint brand between Huawei and Seres Group, Stelato is a joint brand between the tech giant and BAIC. Luxeed is built by it and Chery, while Maextro is a joint brand with Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group.
Apart from the new models, the HIMA cars will also get facelifts, 36kr quoted a source close to the matter as saying.
Aito's new SUV (sport utility vehicle) model, the M8, will be launched in the first half of 2025 and will compete with the Li L9, the person familiar with the matter said.
The Li L9 is currently offered in 2 variants in China, with starting prices of RMB 409,800 ($56,610) and RMB 439,800, respectively.
Aito's flagship model, the M9, is currently seen as a competitor to the Li L9, but has an average price tag of over RMB 500,000, about RMB 100,000 higher than the Li L9, the report noted.
Huawei has high hopes for the Aito M8, focusing on the product experience to compete with Li Auto, according to the report.
Stelato will launch an EREV version for the S9 next year, as well as a longer wheelbase variant and a wagon variant at the time of its upgrade, the report said.
The Stelato S9, which was officially launched on August 6 at a starting price of RMB 399,800, is the flagship sedan under the HIMA business and is currently available only in battery electric vehicle (BEV) variants.
As of October, the HIMA business has been in existence for 32 months, with a total of 500,000 units of all models delivered.
