The sales are wholesale sales -- carmaker-to-dealer -- and include different brands including BYD, Denza, Yangwang, and Fang Cheng Bao.

BYD-branded passenger cars, which include the Dynasty and Ocean series, sold 480,841 units in October, up 66.05 percent year-on-year and up 20.60 percent from September, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

The Dynasty lineup sold 251,090 vehicles in October, up 82.18 percent year-on-year and up 22.72 percent from September. Models in the Dynasty lineup are named after dynasties in Chinese history, such as the Qin, Han and Tang families.

The Ocean series sold 229,751 vehicles in October, up 51.40 percent year-on-year and up 18.37 percent from September. The models in this series are mainly named after marine creatures and ships.

In the January-October period, BYD's NEV sales amounted to 3,250,532 units, up 36.49 percent year-on-year. This includes 3,081,755 vehicles under the BYD brand.

The Dynasty series sold 1,588,562 vehicles from January to October, contributing 48.87 percent of BYD Group sales in the same period, while the Ocean series sold 1,493,193 vehicles, contributing 45.94 percent.
