China's passenger new energy vehicle (NEV) retail sales are on track to reach a new high in October, surpassing the 1 million mark for the third consecutive month.
Retail sales of passenger NEVs in China totaled 1.284 million units in October, up 67 percent from the same month last year and up 14 percent from September, according to preliminary data released today by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
So far this year, cumulative retail sales of China's passenger NEVs totaled 8.42 million units, up 41 percent from the same period last year, according to the CPCA.
Wholesale sales of passenger NEVs in October were 1.4 million units, up 58 percent from the same month last year and up 14 percent from September.
So far this year, cumulative wholesale sales of passenger NEVs in China totaled 9.31 million units, up 37 percent year-on-year.
In October, retail sales of all passenger vehicles in China totaled 2.36 million units, up 16 percent from a year ago and up 12 percent from September.
So far this year, cumulative retail sales of all passenger vehicles in China totaled 17.94 million units, up 4 percent year-on-year.
This means that China's NEV penetration at retail stood at 54.38 percent in October and 46.92 percent so far this year.
In the first week of October -- October 1-7, which was covered by the National Day holiday -- China's average daily passenger car retail sales were 49,668, down 5 percent year-on-year but up 2 percent from the same period last month.
In the second week of October -- October 8-13 -- average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 79,225, up 48 percent year-on-year and up 31 percent from the same period last month.
In the third week of October -- October 14-20, average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 62,954, up 9 percent year-on-year and up 4 percent from the same period last month.
In the fourth week of October -- October 21-27, average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 78,280, down 5 percent year-on-year and down 17 percent from the same period last month.
In the fifth week of October -- October 28-31, average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 137,413, up 51 percent year-on-year and up 27 percent from the same period last month.
Wholesale sales of all passenger cars in China in October were 2.77 million units, up 13 percent year-on-year and up 11 percent from a month earlier.
From October 1-7, average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars in China were 32,664 units, down 14 percent year-on-year and down 29 percent from a month earlier.
From October 8-13, average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars in China were 76,712, up 40 percent year-on-year and up 15 percent from the same period last month.
From October 14-20, average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars in China were 88,144, up 31 percent year-on-year and up 23 percent from the same period last month.
During October 21-27, average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars in China were 96,066, down 19 percent year-on-year and 21 percent from the same period last month.
From October 28-31, average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars in China were 199,020, up 45 percent year-on-year and up 41 percent from the same period last month.
