Xiaomi EV, the car-building arm of Xiaomi (HKG: 1810, OTCMKTS: XIACY), has unveiled the SU7 Ultra prototype's impressive lap time at Germany's Nürburgring, just as its production version is set to be unveiled later today.

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype completed its challenge at the Nürburgring with a lap time of 6:46.874, making it the fastest four-door car on the track, Xiaomi EV announced today on Weibo.

Xiaomi launched the SU7 electric sedan, its first EV model, on March 28, offering three variants -- Standard, Pro, and Max -- with starting prices of RMB 215,900 ($30,260), RMB 245,900, and RMB 299,900, respectively.

Xiaomi founder, chairman, and CEO Lei Jun unveiled the SU7 Ultra prototype during his annual speech on July 19, saying it is based on the SU7 and built for performance and the track.

The SU7 Ultra prototype is powered by Xiaomi's V8s motor that spins at 27,200 rpm and delivers 1,548 horsepower.

The model can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.97 seconds and can accelerate from 0 to 200 km/h in 5.96 with a top speed of over 350 km/h.

In January, Xiaomi EV booked the Nürburgring for two days, October 9-10, but was unable to complete the test as planned due to rain.

On October 24, Nürburgring management determined that the Xiaomi EV could test during a one-hour window on October 28 from 11 pm to 12 am, according to the company.

The SU7 Ultra prototype started at 11:50 am local time on October 28 and completed its lap at 11:56 am 46.874 seconds off the line.

The SU7 Ultra prototype's lap time was confirmed on October 28 at 6:50 pm local time.

The achievement was made by British driver David Pittard, winner of the 2023 24 Hours of the Nürburgring.

Xiaomi will unveil its products, including the Xiaomi Mi 15 phone, at an event starting at 7 pm Beijing time today, and the company previously said that the production version of the SU7 Ultra would also be unveiled.

The production version of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, which will be officially launched in the first half of 2025, will feature the same chassis structure, triple motors, and battery pack as the prototype, Lei said in a live video on July 23.

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra production version will be slightly more expensive, but not particularly so, Lei said at the time.
