Xiaomi said it has delivered more than 20,000 units of the SU7 in October, and reiterated that it will meet its full-year delivery target of 100,000 units in November ahead of schedule.
Xiaomi (HKG: 1810, OTCMKTS: XIACY) has delivered more than 20,000 units of its first electric vehicle (EV) model, the SU7, in October, the smartphone maker's founder, chairman and CEO Lei Jun said today.
The Xiaomi SU7 surpassed Tesla's (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model 3 to become the No. 1 mid-size all-electric sedan by deliveries in China, Lei said at a new product launch event today.
Xiaomi expects to meet its full-year delivery target of 100,000 units ahead of schedule in November, he said, repeating previously mentioned numbers.
Xiaomi officially launched the SU7 on March 28, offering three versions -- Standard, Pro, and Max -- at starting prices of RMB 215,900 ($30,260), RMB 245,900, and RMB 299,900, respectively.
Deliveries of the Standard and Max versions of the SU7 began in April, and deliveries of the SU7 Pro began in May.
Xiaomi delivered 7,058 SU7s in April and 8,630 in May. Over the past few months, Xiaomi has not mentioned specific monthly delivery figures, only repeating that it has delivered more than 10,000 units in a single month.
Xiaomi delivered 27,307 units of the Xiaomi SU7 series in the second quarter, the company said in its August 21 earnings report.
“The continued acceleration of deliveries is our commitment and we thank everyone for their support,” Xiaomi's car-making arm, Xiaomi EV, wrote on Weibo today.
Additionally, Xiaomi EV said it will start pushing the city NOA (Navigation on Autopilot) feature available across the country to vehicles on October 30.
Xiaomi's smart driving system is divided into Xiaomi Pilot Pro, which is based on a pure vision solution, and Xiaomi Pilot Max, which has an extra LiDAR.
The Xiaomi Pilot Pro uses one Nvidia Drive Orin chip with 84 Tops of computing power, while the Xiaomi Pilot Max carries two Drive Orin chips with a combined computing power of 508 Tops.
The Xiaomi SU7 standard edition comes with the Xiaomi Pilot Pro, while both the Pro and Max variants come with the Xiaomi Pilot Max system.
The city NOA is available only for the Xiaomi Pilot Max-equipped models, that is, the SU7 Pro and Max.
Xiaomi EV is expected to begin internal testing of the end-to-end large model and visual large model-based smart driving system in late November, and will push out a pioneer version of the system in late December.
