Xiaomi founder Lei Jun calls the production version of the SU7 Ultra his dream car and the dream car built by Xiaomi EV for those seeking performance.
Xiaomi EV, the car-making arm of Xiaomi (HKG: 1810, OTCMKTS: XIACY), continues to preview the production version of the SU7 Ultra, which will be unveiled tomorrow.
Xiaomi EV today posted two posters on Weibo showing some details of the rear end of the production version of the SU7 Ultra.
The performance variant of the SU7 will feature a carbon fiber rear wing with a somewhat different design from the SU7 Ultra prototype.
The production version of the SU7 Ultra has peak performance, peak technology, and peak driving experience, and can be driven on regular streets or on a race track, Xiaomi's founder, chairman, and CEO, Lei Jun, said in a Weibo post today.
“This is my Dreamcar,” Lei wrote in Weibo, where Dreamcar is written in English.
Xiaomi EV's goal in building such a powerful driving machine is to create the ultimate “Dream Car” for people who aspire to peak performance, driving confidence, and a life beyond the ordinary, Lei said.
The production version of the SU7 Ultra will be unveiled at an event on October 29, starting at 7 pm Beijing time, and reservations for the model are already open.
The SU7 electric sedan is Xiaomi's first model, which was officially launched on March 28. The model is offered in three variants -- Standard, Pro, and Max -- with starting prices of RMB 215,900 ($30,270), RMB 245,900, and RMB 299,900, respectively.
Lei unveiled the SU7 Ultra prototype at his annual presentation on July 19, saying it was based on the SU7 and built for performance and the track.
The production version of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra, which will go on sale in the first half of 2025, will feature the same chassis structure, three motors and battery pack as the prototype, Lei said in a live video on July 23.
The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra production version will be slightly more expensive, but not particularly so, Lei said at the time.
The SU7 Ultra prototype is powered by Xiaomi's V8s motors, which have up to 1,548 horsepower and can sprint from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 1.97 seconds.
In a research note earlier this month, Goldman Sachs projected that Xiaomi's SU7 Ultra will sell about 4,000 units next year at an average price of about RMB 800,000, contributing 5 percent of its EV revenue.
Xiaomi EV said on October 1 that the SU7 has seen deliveries of more than 10,000 units for four straight months, and it aims to produce and deliver more than 20,000 vehicles in October.
