China's NEV retail sales slowed last week, dragging down the month-to-date performance.

Retail sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) in China slowed last week, dragging down the month-to-date performance.

In the October 1-20 period, retail sales of passenger NEVs in China totaled 609,000 units, up 45 percent from a year earlier and up 1 percent from a month earlier, according to data released today by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

For reference, during October 1-13, China's passenger NEV retail sales amounted to 408,000 units, up 64 percent from the same period last year and up 8 percent from the same period last month.

So far this year, cumulative retail sales of Chinese passenger NEVs totaled 7,741,000 units, up 38 percent year-on-year.

Wholesale sales of China's passenger NEVs from October 1-20 were 679,000 units, up 51 percent from a year earlier and up 9 percent from the same period last month, according to the CPCA.

So far this year, cumulative wholesale sales of China's passenger NEVs were 8,589,000 units, up 35 percent from a year earlier.

From October 1-20, China's retail sales of all passenger vehicles were 1.26 million units, up 16 percent compared with the same period last year and up 12 percent from the same period last month.

So far this year, cumulative retail sales of all passenger vehicles in China totaled 16.84 million units, up 3 percent year-on-year.

This means that China's NEV penetration at retail stood at 48.18 percent from October 1-20 and 45.97 percent year-to-date.

In the first week of October -- October 1-7, which was covered by the National Day holiday -- China's average daily passenger car retail sales were 49,668, down 5 percent year-on-year but up 2 percent from the same period last month.

In the second week of October -- October 8-13 -- average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 79,225, up 48 percent year-on-year and up 31 percent from the same period last month.

In the third week of October -- October 14-20, average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 69,954, up 9 percent year-on-year and up 4 percent from the same period last month.

During October 1-20, China's wholesale sales of all passenger cars were 1,336,000 units, up 25 percent year-on-year and up 9 percent from the same period last month.

During October 1-7, average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars in China were 32,664 units, down 14 percent year-on-year and down 29 percent from the same period last month.

During October 8-13, average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars in China were 76,712, up 40 percent year-on-year and up 15 percent from the same period last month. The figure was revised down from 80,723 reported last week.

During October 14-20, average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars in China were 92,430, up 37 percent year-on-year and up 29 percent from the same period last month.

Cumulative year-to-date wholesale sales of passenger cars in China totaled 19.78 million units, up 5 percent year-on-year.
