Retail sales of passenger new energy vehicles (NEVs) in China amounted to 408,000 units in the October 1-13 period, up 64 percent from the same period last year and up 8 percent from the same period last month, data released today by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) showed.

So far this year, cumulative retail sales of passenger NEVs in China totaled 7.54 million units, up 39 percent from the same period last year.

Wholesale sales of passenger NEVs from October 1-13 were 383,000 units, up 55 percent from the same period last year and up 3 percent from the same period last month, according to the CPCA.

So far this year, China's cumulative wholesale sales of passenger NEVs were 8.29 million units, up 35 percent from a year earlier.

During the October 1-13 period, China's retail sales of all passenger vehicles were 823,000 units, up 20 percent compared with the same period last year and up 17 percent from the same period last month.

So far this year, cumulative retail sales of all passenger vehicles in China totaled 16.4 million units, up 3 percent year-on-year.

This means that China's NEV penetration at retail stood at 49.57 percent from October 1-13 and 45.98 percent year-to-date.

During the first week of October -- October 1-7, covered by the National Day holiday -- average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 49,668, down 5 percent year-on-year but up 2 percent from the same period last month.

In the second week of October -- October 8-13, average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 79,225, up 48 percent year-on-year and up 31 percent from the same period last month.

During October 1-13, China's wholesale sales of all passenger cars were 713,000 units, up 20 percent year-on-year but down 2 percent from the same period last month.

During October 1-7, average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars in China were 32,664 units, a decrease of 14 percent year-on-year and a decrease of 29 percent from the same period last month.

In October 8-13, average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars in China were 80,723, up 47 percent year-on-year and up 21 percent from the same period last month.

Cumulative year-to-date wholesale sales of passenger cars in China totaled 19.16 million units, up 4 percent year-on-year.
