Nio's sub-brand Onvo has promised that customers ordering L60s now will get deliveries within this year, saying that bottlenecks previously limiting capacity ramp-up are being quickly resolved.
Nio's (NYSE: NIO) sub-brand Onvo has promised that customers ordering the L60 now will get deliveries within this year, as it ramps up factory capacity.
There's good news coming out of Nio's factories, where bottlenecks that previously limited the rate at which capacity could be climbed are being quickly resolved, Onvo said in a new Q&A today.
Onvo didn't mention what those bottlenecks were, but said it wanted to give special thanks to its top partners who have provided resource support.
“So, we are very confident to say that those who order now will definitely get (the car) within this year. We are confidently committed to this,” Onvo said.
The Onvo L60 was launched on September 19 and deliveries started on September 28.
The model's production capacity is expected to reach 5,000 units in October and 10,000 units in December, William Li, Nio's founder, chairman and CEO, said in a September 20 media communication.
By January 2025, the model's capacity will reach at least 16,000 units and 20,000 units by March, Li said at the time.
Now, the pace will be moved up, Onvo said today, adding that exact numbers can't be determined easily at this point, though, as production capacity is still in the process of being ramped up on an ongoing basis.
Onvo's mobile app or website does not show expected delivery dates for the L60, unlike Nio's main-branded models. The expected delivery date for the L60 is only visible to order holders.
For order holders, a significant advancement of the actual delivery date from the currently displayed expected date may not occur, but the possibility of them getting delivery earlier cannot be ruled out, Onvo said.
Onvo again touched on the production schedule for the 85-kWh long-range battery pack in today's Q&A, saying that they expect deliveries to begin in December of this year, and that production capacity is adequate for the year.
The long-range packs will be able to accommodate not only December deliveries, but also temporary battery upgrades for owners during the Chinese New Year holiday, Onvo said.
The Onvo L60 is currently only available with the 60-kWh standard range battery pack, which provides a CLTC range of 555 kilometers. The long-range battery pack provides a CLTC range of 730 kilometers.
Onvo's vehicles support battery swap, as do Nio's main brand vehicles, allowing owners to temporarily upgrade for longer range when needed.
January 29, 2025 will be the first day of China's next Lunar New Year, and the country's current holiday schedule for next year has not yet been announced.
Nio currently has two vehicle assembly plants in Hefei, Anhui province, capable of supporting a capacity of 10,000 Nio models and 20,000 Onvo models per month, Li previously said.
Nio aims to deliver 220,000 cars in 2024, including 20,000 for Onvo
