Neta Auto, a subsidiary of Chinese electric vehicle (EV) company Hozon Auto, has begun vehicle sales in Indonesia and is about to start delivering its first locally produced vehicles.

The company launched the Neta X SUV (sport utility vehicle) in Indonesia at an event in Jakarta on September 27, and said it will soon deliver the vehicles to its first 500 owners.

Indonesia is the latest core market in Southeast Asia for Neta, after Thailand and Malaysia, it said.

Neta unveiled the Neta X in the country at the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) in July and received more than 500 pre-orders, according to a statement from the company.

The upcoming deliveries of the Neta X in Indonesia will all be produced at Neta's plant in Indonesia, the Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker said, adding that the first Neta X cars produced at the plant rolled off the production line two weeks ago.

The model is powered by Chinese battery maker Gotion High-tech's lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries, with 44 percent of the battery packs' components produced in Indonesia, Neta said.

The localization rate will increase further as Neta strengthens cooperation with local partners, it said.

Neta will next open a number of stores in Indonesia to make it easier for local consumers to experience up the product, it said.

Neta X can be charged from 30 percent to 80 percent in 30 minutes and has a range of up to 480 kilometers on a full charge, the company said.

Neta presented its flagship sedan, the Neta S, as well as two compact SUVs, the Neta U-II, and the Neta V, in Indonesia at last year's GIIAS 2023 event, marking its debut in the Southeast Asian country.

On May 31, Indonesian EV maker PT Neta Auto started local production of Neta vehicles under CKD (completely knocked down) model.
