Denza started the pre-sales of the Z9GT on August 20, with a price range of RMB 339,800 ($47,770) to RMB 419,800.
Denza, BYD's (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) premium new energy vehicle (NEV) brand, will officially let its new model Z9GT go on sale on September 20, after starting pre-sales late last month.
Denza announced the date on Weibo today, the same day as the launch of Zeekr's (NYSE: ZK) Zeekr 7X family SUV (sport utility vehicle).
The Denza Z9GT received good reviews in media test drives, especially for its performance and handling, Denza's head of sales, Zhao Changjiang, said on Weibo today.
The vehicles used for the test drive have been available, attracting a lot of traffic to Denza's stores, he said.
The Z9GT is the first model in Denza's Z series, which will be sedans, with GT standing for Grand Tourer.
Denza's current models in delivery include the D9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle), and the N7 and N8 SUVs.
The Z9GT's biggest selling point is BYD's e3 technology, based on the Xuanji architecture, which brings tri-motor independent drive with dual-motor independent steering at the rear wheels.
The e3 can be seen as a scaled-down version of BYD's e⁴ technology built for ultra-luxury cars, albeit also bringing great performance and features.
Denza began pre-sales of the Z9GT on August 20, with a pre-sale price range of RMB 339,800 ($47,770) to RMB 419,800, well below previous rumors of around RMB 500,000.
The Z9GT is the first model to use the e3, with up to nearly 1,000 horsepower and accelerating from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in under four seconds, Denza said.
Denza also gave the model's regular sedan version, the Z9, a brief appearance at its August 20 event and started pre-sales at the same prices.
The Z9GT will officially go on sale and begin deliveries in September, while the Z9 will go on sale and begin deliveries in the fourth quarter, Denza said at the time.
