That's up 26 percent from 11,145 in July and up 2.53 percent from 13,690 in the same month last year.

In the January-August period, Xpeng delivered 77,209 vehicles, up 16.75 percent year-on-year.

At the end of August, Xpeng's cumulative deliveries since inception stood at 477,520, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

Xpeng officially launched the Mona array's first model, the M03, on August 27, and the electric sedan appears to have gained good initial acceptance, which is expected to help it see further sales growth.

The Mona M03 is offered in three variants with starting prices of RMB 119,800 ($16,900), RMB 129,800, and RMB 155,800 respectively.

The model is the least expensive of Xpeng's on-sale models and is about half the price of the (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model 3 in China.

The Mona M03 saw firm orders exceed 10,000 units in the first 52 minutes after launch, and received more than 30,000 firm orders in the first 48 hours, Xpeng had said.

He Xiaopeng, Xpeng's chairman and CEO, delivered the Mona M03 to its first owners at the Chengdu auto show on August 30, with mass deliveries of the model set to begin soon.

The Mona M03 Max edition is equipped with the XNGP (Xpeng navigation guided pilot) assisted driving system, and is the world's first mass-produced model to realize high-level ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) functions within RMB 200,000, Xpeng said.

With attractive styling, advanced intelligence and superior drivability that surpasses the RMB 200,000+ segment, the model brings the new flagship of the AI-defined smart mobility era to a younger demographic at an affordable price, it said.

Xpeng's other models currently on sale include the P5 sedan, P7i sedan, G6 SUV (sport utility vehicle), G9 SUV, and X9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle). It is expected to launch a new sedan, the P7+, in the fourth quarter.
