BYD today launched the 2025 Song L EV with a starting price of RMB 189,800 ($26,700), the same as its predecessor but with the DiPilot 100 driver assistance system.
BYD (OTCMKTS: BYDDF) has introduced the 2025 model for the battery electric vehicle (BEV) variant of the shooting brake model Song L, about eight months after its initial launch.
The Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker today rolled out the 2025 Song L EV on the first day of the Chengdu auto show, with a starting price of RMB 189,800 ($26,780), the same as its predecessor.
Specifically, the 2025 Song L EV is offered in four variants with starting prices of RMB 189,800, RMB 199,800, RMB 209,800, RMB 229,800, and RMB 249,800 respectively.
The Song L EV was initially launched on December 15, 2023, when it was offered in five variants with starting prices of RMB 189,800, RMB 199,800, RMB 209,800, RMB 229,800, and RMB 249,800 respectively.
The 2025 Song L EV does away with the previous variant priced at RMB 209,800 and comes with an intelligent driving system.
Its DiPilot 100 driver assistance system comes with 29 sensors and offers more than 30 features including driver assistance and parking assistance.
The model measures 4,840 mm in length, 1,950 mm in width and 1,560 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,930 mm. It has 550 km, 602 km and 662 km range options.
The Song L is the second shooting brake style SUV under the BYD umbrella. The NEV maker's premium Denza brand launched the Denza N7 on July 3, 2023, the first such model from the BYD group.
BYD sold 342,383 NEVs in July, up 30.60 percent year-on-year and up 0.21 percent from June, according to figures it announced on August 1.
This includes 340,799 passenger NEVs and 1,584 commercial NEVs.
The Song family was the second best-selling BYD model in July with 65,275 units sold. This was up 27.35 percent year-on-year, but down 7.04 percent from June.
The Song family models on sale include the Song L EV, Song L DM-i, and Song Pro DM-i in the Dynasty series, and the Song Plus EV and Song Plus DM-i in the Ocean series.
