Jiyue has begun pre-sales of the Jiyue 07 at a price of RMB 215,900 ($30,300), with the model set to go on sale on September 10.
Jiyue, the electric vehicle (EV) maker created by Baidu in partnership with Geely Holding Group, has begun pre-sales of its second model, the Jiyue 07 electric sedan, with the official launch set for next month.
Jiyue began pre-sales of the Jiyue 07 yesterday at a starting price of RMB 215,900 yuan ($30,300), saying the model will officially go on sale on September 10.
The whole process of launching a new model in China by EV makers usually includes unveiling, pre-sale and formal launch to utilize a longer period of time for marketing purposes.
The Jiyue 07 is a C-class all-electric sedan and is the brand's second model after the Jiyue 01 SUV (sport utility vehicle).
The Jiyue 07 measures 4,953 mm in length, 1,989 mm in width and 1,475 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,013 mm, according to a previous regulatory filing.
As a comparison, the latest Tesla Model 3 is smaller, with length, width and height of 4,720 mm, 1,848 mm and 1,442 mm respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,875 mm.
The Jiyue 07 will come with the official version of Apollo 2.0, a smart driving system that comes with a standard price tag of RMB 29,900. Customers who choose to buy the system can currently enjoy a discounted price of RMB 4,999.
Jiyue also offers a monthly subscription option for the system, with a standard price of RMB 599 per month.
Unveiled at the Beijing auto show in April, the Jiyue 07 is Jiyue's first sedan model.
Earlier this month, Jiyue saw the first production vehicle of the Jiyue 07 roll off the production line.
It has two battery pack options with capacities of 71.4 kWh and 100 kWh, and the range offered is 660 kilometers, 770 kilometers and 880 kilometers respectively.
Jiyue is renamed from the brand formerly known as Jidu. Geely and Baidu established the joint venture Jidu in March 2021, which was then 55 percent owned by Baidu and 45 percent by Geely.
In August 2023, Geely and Baidu launched the new brand, Jiyue, which materially replaced Jidu, the operating entity of which is 65 percent owned by Geely, with the remaining 35 percent owned by a subsidiary of Baidu.
Jiyue officially launched the Jiyue 01 on October 27 of last year, and on October 29 the model began its first delivery.
As a new EV maker, Jiyue's sales performance appears to be lukewarm, and it hasn't announced delivery figures like its peers.
