China's retail sales of passenger new energy vehicles (NEVs) amounted to 718,000 units in the August 1-25 period, up 48 percent from the same period last year and up 18 percent from the same period last month, data released by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) today showed.

So far this year, cumulative retail sales of passenger NEVs in China totaled 5.707 million units, up 35 percent from the same period last year.

Wholesale sales of Chinese passenger NEVs from August 1-25 were 675,000 units, up 24 percent from the same period last year and up 11 percent from the same period last month, according to the CPCA.

So far this year, cumulative wholesale sales of China's passenger NEVs stood at 6.237 million units, up 29 percent from the same period last year.

From August 1-25, China's retail sales of all passenger vehicles were 1.305 million units, up 5 percent compared with the same period last year and up 9 percent from the same period last month.

Year to date, cumulative retail sales of all passenger vehicles in China totaled 12.872 million units, up 3 percent year-on-year.

This means that China's NEV penetration at retail was 55.1 percent from August 1-25 and 44.3 percent year-to-date.

In the first week of August -- August 1-4 -- the average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China was 41,015, up 2 percent year-on-year and up 5 percent from the same period last month.

In the second week of August -- August 5-11, average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 50,984, up 10 percent year-on-year and up 23 percent from the same period last month.

In the third week of August -- August 12-18, average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 55,201, up 8 percent year-on-year and up 16 percent from the same period last month.

In the fourth week of August -- August 19-25, average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 56,813, unchanged from a year earlier and 4 percent lower than the same period last month.

For August 1-25, China's wholesale sales of all passenger cars were 1,267,000 units, down 2 percent year-on-year but up 11 percent from the same period last month.

In August 1-4, China's average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars were 24,432, down 31 percent year-on-year and down 12 percent from the same period last month.

In August 5-11, average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars in China were 41,311, down 8 percent year-on-year, but up 26 percent from the same period last month.

During August 12-18, average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars in China were 52,826, down 2 percent year-on-year but up 11 percent from the same period last month.

From August 19-25, average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars in China were 72,861, up 11 percent year-on-year and up 10 percent from the same period last month.

Cumulative year-to-date wholesale sales of passenger cars in China totaled 14.987 million units, up 4 percent year-on-year.
