Jiyue, the electric vehicle (EV) maker created by Baidu in partnership with Geely Holding Group, will officially launch its second model, the Jiyue 07 electric sedan, on September 10.

Jiyue CEO Joe Xia mentioned the date in a Weibo video yesterday, saying that the EV maker will hold a launch event on August 28 about smart driving using end-to-end AI (artificial intelligence) technology.

Xia showed in the video that Jiyue's first model, the Jiyue 01, supports users playing Black Myth: Wukong, a video game created by a local team that recently became a global hit, on the car's screen.

The Jiyue 07, Jiyue's first sedan model, made its debut at the Beijing auto show in April.

It measures 4,953 mm in length, 1,989 mm in width and 1,475 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,013 mm, according to a previous regulatory filing.

The dimensions are larger than those of Tesla's (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model 3, which has a length, width and height of 4,724 mm, 1,848 mm and 1,430 mm, respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,875 mm.

The Jiyue 07 has two battery pack options with capacities of 71.4 kWh and 100 kWh, and the range offered is 660 kilometers, 770 kilometers, and 880 kilometers, respectively.

On August 21, Xia said that Jiyue saw the first production vehicle of the Jiyue 07 roll off the assembly line, as the company's team makes final preparations for the model's launch.

Jiyue was renamed from the brand formerly known as Jidu. Geely and Baidu established the joint venture Jidu in March 2021, which was then 55 percent owned by Baidu and 45 percent by Geely.

In August 2023, Geely and Baidu launched a new brand, Jiyue, which materially replaced Jidu, the operating entity of which is 65 percent owned by Geely, with the remaining 35 percent owned by a subsidiary of Baidu.

Jiyue launched the Jiyue 01 on October 27 of last year, and on October 29 the model began its first delivery.

Currently, the model is offered in 3 versions with starting prices of RMB 219,900 ($30,780), RMB 249,900, and RMB 309,900 respectively.
