Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) has begun mass production of the M03, the first model in its Mona lineup, with the model's official launch expected at the end of this month.

The first production vehicles of the Xpeng Mona M03 have rolled off the production line, Xpeng chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng said today on Weibo.

Xpeng's team is accelerating preparations and hopes to deliver the model as soon as it is available, Mr. He said.

The electric vehicle (EV) maker began accepting reservations for the Mona M03 at 10 am Beijing time on August 8, with customers paying a RMB 99 ($13.80) deposit to receive a RMB 3,000 discount on the purchase of the car.

Xpeng debuted the Mona M03 on July 3, and said at the time that the official launch would be in August.

The electric sedan measures 4,780 mm in length, 1,896 mm in width and 1,445 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,815 mm, according to a June 13 regulatory filing.

Both variants in the catalog are single-motor models with peak motor power of 140 kW and 160 kW, respectively, from suppliers Inovance Automotive, Physis Technology.

Like 's Onvo L60, both variants of the Xpeng Mona M03 are powered by lithium iron phosphate batteries, with both suppliers being FinDreams Battery, the battery division of Chinese NEV giant .

Earlier this month, Xpeng shared more images of the Mona M03 on its social media channels showing details of the exteriors.

Xpeng delivered 11,145 vehicles in July, up 1.24 percent year-on-year and up 4.47 percent from June, according to data released on August 1.

So far this year, Xpeng has delivered 63,173 vehicles, up 20.46 percent year-on-year.
