BYD officially launched the Fang Cheng Bao brand on August 16, 2023, and the brand's first model, the Bao 5 off-road SUV, was launched on November 9, 2023, with deliveries beginning at the end of the same month.

As of now, Fang Cheng Bao has only one model, the Bao 5, on sale. The brand unveiled the Bao 8 at its spring launch event on April 16, as well as two concept cars, the Super 3 SUV and the Super 9 supercar, whose launch dates are yet to be determined.

The Bao 5 is based on BYD's DMO hybrid platform, where O stands for off-road and DM for dual mode.

The model has a length, width and height of 4,890 mm, 1,970 mm and 1,920 mm respectively and a wheelbase of 2,800 mm.

Its five variants are powered by the same four-wheel drive system and can all sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds.

The main difference between the different variants is the body control system, with the two more expensive variants getting the DiSus intelligent body control system, while the less expensive ones do not.

BYD unveiled the DiSus system on April 10, 2023, claiming it to be the first in-house developed intelligent body control system launched by a Chinese automaker.

Monthly deliveries of the Bao 5 exceeded 5,000 units in December last year and January this year, though deliveries have been sluggish since February, with monthly deliveries below 3,000 units for the past three months.

By the end of June, Fang Cheng Bao had cumulatively delivered 23,995 vehicles, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

In terms of the pace of product launches, Fang Cheng Bao has been slightly slow in the past, the brand's general manager, Xiong Tianbo, said in a recent communication with local media.

As its channels improve, Fang Cheng Bao will probably launch new products every quarter starting in the fourth quarter, Xiong said.
