Xpeng has started pre-sales of the G6 in Singapore, and its first official store is expected to open in September.
Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) has entered the Singapore automotive market as it expands its presence in international markets.
Xpeng officially entered the Singapore market on July 25 with the opening of a pop-up store at UOB Plaza in the heart of the central business district, the company said today on Weibo.
Visitors to the pop-up showroom will have the opportunity to test drive the Xpeng G6 SUV (sport utility vehicle), according to the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker.
Xpeng has started pre-sales in Singapore and is offering exclusive privileges during the pre-sale period and exclusive discounts for UOB customers, according to the company.
Xpeng's first official store in Singapore is expected to open in September, the EV maker said.
Xpeng's Weibo doesn't mention much more, but according to its English-language press releases, the company is expanding into the local market with Singaporean distributor Premium Automobiles.
“We are excited for the launch of XPENG in Singapore. As one of the global leaders in smart electric vehicles, we are passionate about bringing vehicles with cutting-edge technology to the market,” Said Lee Hoe Lone, Premium Automobiles Managing Director.
The G6, a competitor to Tesla's (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model Y, was launched in China on June 29, 2023, with deliveries beginning in early July last year.
Xpeng announced on May 8 that it had entered into a partnership with Australian dealer TrueEV, which would launch the G6 in Australia in the fourth quarter.
The company launched the G6 and another SUV, the G9, in France on May 16 and took the G6 to the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2024 earlier this month, marking the SUV's UK debut.
On July 19, Xpeng opened its first showroom in Hong Kong and said it will begin delivering the first G6s there in the third quarter.
