Since sales began on May 17, Xpeng has received more than 500 orders in Hong Kong, with the first deliveries of the G6 set to begin in the third quarter.
Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) opened its first showroom in Hong Kong today, after announcing its entry into the city in April.
The showroom is located in Yoho Mix, the largest shopping mall in Hong Kong in terms of square footage in New Territories West and North, covering more than 3,700 feet (343 square meters), according to the company.
Executives from Xpeng and its Hong Kong distributor, Sime Darby Group, witnessed the opening of the showroom.
In addition to showcasing Xpeng's technology and latest vehicles, the showroom will also offer services to local Xpeng owners, Sime Darby said, according to a press release.
Xpeng signed a deal with Malaysia's Sime Darby on April 9, authorizing the latter to be its official distributor in the Hong Kong market.
Sime Darby would open Xpeng's flagship store in the third quarter, introducing the Xpeng G6 SUV (sport utility vehicle) and the all-electric seven-passenger Xpeng X9 MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle), Xpeng said at the time.
On May 17, the G6 and X9 debuted in Hong Kong and began taking orders.
The G6 starts at HK$299,900 ($38,400) for the standard-range version and HK$349,900 for the long-range version in Hong Kong.
The intended pre-tax price of the X9 would not exceed HK$500,000, with the final price subject to final approval by the Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department, Xpeng said in May.
Xpeng has more than 500 orders in Hong Kong and the first G6 deliveries will start in the third quarter, the company said today.
Xpeng will offer a Cantonese version of its virtual voice assistant Xiao P in Hong Kong in the fourth quarter, it said.
The G6 was launched in the Chinese mainland on June 29, 2023, with deliveries beginning in early July last year. The model is a competitor to Tesla's (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model Y.
The G6's current starting price in the Chinese mainland is RMB 199,900 ($27,510), lower than the RMB 249,900 for the Model Y.
The X9 went on sale on January 1, and the MPV's starting price of RMB 359,800 is the highest price for an Xpeng to date, with deliveries beginning on January 16.
