Denza opened its first flagship showroom in Cambodia, marking the entry of the (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) premium new energy vehicle (NEV) brand into the Southeast Asian country's automotive market.

Denza's first showroom in Cambodia, the Denza Harmony City Mall Showroom, opened in the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh on July 14, the brand announced yesterday.

The showroom covers an area of nearly 600 square meters and features service areas including a vehicle display area, a VIP parlor and a new car delivery area.

With the opening of the showroom, Denza completed the first local delivery of the D9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle).

Denza's move marks its official launch in Cambodia and demonstrates BYD's expansion strategy in the global NEV segment, said Ye Chenghui, regional director of BYD's Asia Pacific auto sales division, at the store's opening ceremony.

Denza was established in 2010 as a joint venture between BYD and Daimler, each holding a 50 percent stake at the time. In February 2022, the Daimler brand was rebranded as Mercedes-Benz. BYD increased its stake in Denza to 90 percent in 2022.

The D9 is the first model of the refreshed Denza brand, and its other two models are the N-series SUVs (sport utility vehicles) -- the N7 and N8.

BYD entered the Cambodian market in 2020 and opened its first passenger car sales center in Phnom Penh, introducing several NEV models.

In August 2022, BYD launched the Atto 3 in Cambodia, a model known in China as the Yuan Plus.

Cambodia's Prime Minister Hun Manet said on July 16 that BYD planned to set up an EV plant in the country.

BYD's Cambodian plant will be able to assemble 20,000 vehicles a year for the local market and export them to international markets, Hun Manet said.
