Deliveries of the Xiaomi SU7 have been further accelerated since July 1, with expected delivery lead times reduced by up to five weeks after orders are locked in, Xiaomi EV said.
Xiaomi EV, the car-making unit of Xiaomi (HKG: 1810, OTCMKTS: XIACY), told potential customers and order holders that it is working to further boost production capacity in an attempt to keep them waiting for the Xiaomi SU7.
The Xiaomi SU7's delivery ramp-up is going well, with the factory having opened double-shift production in June and deliveries already topping 10,000 units in a single month, Xiaomi EV said in a letter to order holders posted on Weibo today.
Deliveries of Xiaomi's SU7 series have been further accelerated since July 1, with expected delivery lead times reduced by up to five weeks after orders are locked in, Xiaomi EV said.
"Meanwhile, we will be conducting a new round of production line optimization and maintenance in the near future to prepare for further capacity ramp-up," Xiaomi EV wrote.
Xiaomi EV tried to reassure order holders by saying that the production line optimization won't affect its goal of delivering more than 10,000 units in July.
Xiaomi launched the SU7, its first model, on March 28, offering three variants -- standard, Pro, and Max -- with starting prices of RMB 215,900 ($29,700), RMB 245,900, and RMB 299,900, respectively.
Deliveries of the standard and Max versions of the SU7 began on April 3, and deliveries of the SU7 Pro began in May.
The model has enjoyed unprecedented success since its launch, and customers who currently order the Xiaomi SU7 will have to wait about 30 weeks for delivery, according to data monitored by CnEVPost.
Xiaomi EV aims to deliver more than 100,000 units in 2024 and challenge the delivery target of 120,000 units, Xiaomi management previously said.
Yesterday, Xiaomi EV said it delivered more than 10,000 units of the SU7, without disclosing the exact number.
Hong Kong-listed Xiaomi is expected to announce specific SU7 delivery figures in an exchange announcement in the coming days.
