Fang Cheng Bao, the personalized sub-brand of BYD (OTCMKTS: BYDDY), will hold its spring launch event on April 16, and the Bao 8 and Bao 3 could be one of the highlights.
"April 16 with 8," Fang Cheng Bao wrote on Weibo today.
The Weibo post was accompanied by a poster showing the number 8, as well as an image of a model that looks to have a LiDAR on the roof.
A few hours later, the brand released another poster hinting that it will also announce the Bao 3 on April 16.
Fang Cheng Bao announced yesterday that it will hold a spring launch event on April 16, but didn't give any details.
BYD officially launched the Fang Cheng Bao brand and unveiled the brand's first model, the Bao 5 off-road SUV, on August 16, 2023.
The plug-in hybrid Bao 5 went on sale on November 9, 2023, with a starting price of RMB 289,800 ($40,040), and deliveries began on November 23.
When BYD launched the Fang Cheng Bao brand, it also unveiled the Super 8, a concept for the Bao 8, as well as another model, the Bao 3.
The Super 8 is a departure from the traditional square box design, showcasing Fang Cheng Bao's future exploration of hardcore SUVs, BYD said at the time.
The Bao 3, on the other hand, is a trendy new species that will allow customers to explore the world of fun in a freer way, BYD said.

BYD has created a dedicated DMO platform for the Fang Cheng Bao brand, where O stands for off-road and DM stands for dual mode.
The DMO is an epoch-making hybrid technology platform that is the final general attack of BYD's new energy vehicles (NEVs) on traditional fuel vehicles, BYD said at a launch event last August.
NEVs based on the DMO platform will be predominantly electrically powered, allowing crossovers to achieve low fuel consumption, BYD said.
Fang Cheng Bao delivered 3,550 vehicles in March, up 53.68 percent from 2,310 in February, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
Since deliveries began in 2023, the Bao 5 has accumulated 16,775 vehicles.
