China FAW's Hongqi brand has rolled out the Hongqi EH7, the first model launched by Hongqi New Energy, a sub-brand focused on electric vehicles (EVs), since it became independent last year.

Hongqi officially launched the mid-size all-electric sedan at an event yesterday, offering five options with starting prices of RMB 229,800 ($31,920), RMB 239,800, RMB 259,800, RMB 269,800, RMB 309,800, respectively.

The EH7 is based on Hongqi's electrified intelligent network technology platform (FME) and measures 4,980 mm in length, 1,915 mm in width and 1,490 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm.

Its competitors at this price point include 's (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) Han EV, Rising Auto's F7, and 's (HKG: 1810, OTCMKTS: XIACY) upcoming SU7 sedan.

The Hongqi EH7 is available in three single-motor rear-drive versions and two dual-motor four-wheel-drive versions. The rear-drive version is equipped with an electric motor with a maximum power of 253 kW and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 5.8 seconds.

The dual-motor four-wheel drive versions are equipped with motors with a maximum power of 202 kW and 253 kW, respectively, and they enable the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in as fast as 3.5 seconds.

The Hongqi EH7 has three battery pack options with battery capacities of 75 kWh, 85 kWh and 111 kWh.

The range of the five versions of the CLTC is 600 kilometers, 690 kilometers, 640 kilometers, 820 kilometers and 760 kilometers.

The Hongqi EH7 has a maximum charging power of up to 365 kW, capable of charging 10 to 80 percent in 20 minutes. The model can add up to 200 kilometers of range in as little as five minutes of charging.

Its smart cockpit is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip. Notably, this has been a standard feature of local automakers' mid- to high-end EV models for the past few years, but they are now moving to the next-generation 8295 chip.

Hongqi announced its "All In New Energy" strategy in January 2023, and began operating Hongqi New Energy independently to accelerate its electrification transition.

Hongqi New Energy's retail sales in 2023 exceeded 85,000 units, a 135 percent increase year-on-year, according to its previously announced figures.
