Most of the major automakers saw their electric vehicle (EV) insurance registrations in China rebound further last week.

For the week of February 26 to March 3, (NYSE: NIO) saw 3,600 insurance registrations of its vehicles in China, up 56.52 percent from the previous week's 2,300, according to figures shared today by its local counterpart (NASDAQ: LI).

February 26 to March 3 includes the last four days of February and the first three days of March. Car deliveries are usually skewed toward the end of the month, while deliveries are usually slow at the beginning of the month.

Nio delivered 8,132 vehicles in February, down 33.11 percent year-on-year and down 19.12 percent from January, according to data it released March 1.

The deliveries included 4,765 SUVs and 3,367 sedans, according to the company, which did not provide specific figures for different models.

Nio currently sells the ES8, ES7, ES6, EC7, EC6, ET7, ET5, and ET5 Touring, the first five of which are SUVs and the last three are sedans.

Nio will report its fourth-quarter 2023 earnings on Tuesday before the US stock market opens and will hold an analyst call afterward.

(NYSE: XPEV) had 2,400 insurance registrations last week, doubling from 1,200 the week before.

Xpeng delivered 4,545 vehicles in February, down 24.38 percent year-on-year and down 44.91 percent from January.

The Xpeng X9 MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) delivered 1,448 units in February and nearly 4,000 units in its first two months on the market, the company said on March 1.

Xpeng announced on January 26 that it started an upgrade project at its Zhaoqing plant in Guangdong province, which would last for about 20 days.

Xpeng will report fourth-quarter earnings on Tuesday, March 19, before the US markets open.

Li Auto had insurance registrations of 6,200 vehicles last week, unchanged from the previous week.

Li Auto delivered 20,251 vehicles in February, up 21.85 percent year-on-year, but down 35 percent from January.

Li Auto said on March 1 that it aims to rebound to 50,000 monthly deliveries in March.

Li Auto reported strong fourth-quarter earnings on February 26 and guided for first-quarter deliveries to be between 100,000 and 103,000 units.

Li Auto launched the Li Mega MPV, its first battery electric vehicle (BEV) model, on March 1 and deliveries will begin on March 11. The company's other three models -- Li L7, Li L8 and Li L9 -- are extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs).

(NASDAQ: TSLA) had 12,500 insurance registrations for its vehicles in China last week, up 15.74 percent from 10,800 the week before.

Tesla sold 60,365 China-made vehicles in February, according to data released yesterday by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

The monthly sales, which include exports from China to overseas markets, were down 18.87 percent from 74,402 in the same month last year and down 15.51 percent from 71,447 in January.

Tesla has a factory in Shanghai that produces the Model 3 and Model Y, and not only delivers to local consumers, but is also an export hub for the company. A breakdown of local deliveries and exports is expected to be available in a few days.

BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) had insurance registrations of 38,500 units in China last week, up 21.84 percent from 31,600 the week before.

BYD sold 122,311 NEVs in February, down 36.84 percent year-on-year and down 39.30 percent from January, according to its announcement on March 1.

On February 19, the second working day after the Chinese New Year holiday, BYD launched a lower-priced Glory Editions for the Qin Plus as well as the Chaser 05, marking the launch of its latest round of major model updates.

As of now, BYD has also updated the Dolphin, Han, Tang, Song Plus, version of the Yuan Plus, Seal DM-i, and Song Pro DM-i, all of which have seen prices drop.

BYD's premium brand Denza registered 1,100 insurance registrations last week, down 15.38 percent from 1,300 the week before.

Zeekr was at 3,200 last week, up 60 percent from 2,000 the week before.

Leapmotor was 1,500 last week, up 15.38 percent from 1,300 the week before.

Auto was 800 last week, down 71.43 percent from 2,800 the week before.
