The Li Mega is the first battery electric vehicle (BEV) model from Beijing-based Li Auto and was officially launched on March 1.

The Li Mega has received a lot of attention and popularity from customers since its launch, Li Auto said, without disclosing the number of orders for the model in the initial days of its launch.

The company's Beijing plant has introduced a number of leading production processes, such as 100 percent unmanned distribution and 99.5 percent automated welding, Li Auto said.

Li Auto is working closely with parts suppliers to ensure a stable supply of components and quickly ramp up production, it said.

Li Auto's other plant is in Changzhou, Jiangsu province, where it produces three L-series extended-range electric vehicles (EREVs), the Li L7, Li L8 and Li L9.

The Li Mega is currently only available in the Max trim, with a starting price of RMB 559,800 ($77,760), making it the most expensive Li Auto currently on sale.

Li Auto debuted the Li Mega on November 17, 2023, the first day of the Guangzhou auto show, and began accepting pre-orders.

The company said later on November 17 that it had over 10,000 pre-orders for the Li Mega in the first hour and 42 minutes after it began pre-sales.

Li Xiang, Li Auto's founder, chairman and CEO, said the day before the official launch of the Li Mega on February 29 that the number of orders from customers who paid RMB 5,000 to reserve the Li Mega far exceeded the 2022 Li L9's performance over the same period.

Li Auto claims that the Li Mega is the world's fastest-charging all-electric vehicle, gaining 500 kilometers of range on a 12-minute charge.

As of March 4, Li Mega show cars and vehicles used for test drives had arrived at Li Auto's 464 retail centers in China, it said.
