Nio (NYSE: NIO) has released the first teaser video for the ET9, with the model about 25 hours away from launch.
The video, posted on Weibo by the electric vehicle (EV) maker, shows some details of the ET9's wheels, showing that the Nio logo will remain stationary as the wheels turn.
This design can be seen on Rolls-Royce models, which have an R logo that doesn't rotate when the wheel is turned.
Nio will unveil the ET9 on Nio Day 2023, which will begin at 7 pm Beijing Time on December 23. The start time for Nio Day 2023 will be 6 am US Eastern Time, and 12 pm Central European Time.
The event will last 2 and a half hours and end by 9:30 pm Beijing Time.
The ET9 will be an executive flagship sedan, a market that has been largely inaccessible to Chinese brands, but in the age of smart EVs, an executive flagship has to be a tech flagship, William Li, Nio's founder, chairman, and CEO, said during a December 17 live stream of a range challenge with the company's 150-kWh semi-solid battery.
"So I think there's an opportunity for Chinese companies to get involved," he said.
This new model will become the global technology benchmark for smart EVs and lead the trend of smart EV technology, Li said during a December 5 earnings call.
Nio has started warming up for the ET9 in recent days, including that the model will be built on a 900 V high-voltage architecture, which will result in a faster charging experience. All Nio models support battery swap, which allows getting a fully-charged battery in about three minutes.
Yesterday, another Nio executive hinted that the company may unveil an in-house developed autonomous driving chip at Nio Day 2023.
