Dongfeng Motor's new energy vehicle (NEV) brand, Voyah, has launched a plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) variant for its flagship sedan and has seen good initial acceptance.
Voyah officially unveiled the PHEV variant of the Zhuiguang at today's Guangzhou auto show, and begun pre-sales of the new variant, which start at a price of RMB 266,900 ($36,840).
The Zhuiguang is Voyah's first sedan model and was officially launched on April 18, the first day of the Shanghai auto show. The model was previously only available as a battery electric vehicle (BEV) model, with a starting price range of RMB 322,900 to RMB 457,900.
The Zhuiguang PHEV measures 5,088 millimeters in length, 1,970 millimeters in width, 1,515 millimeters in height and has a wheelbase of 3,000 millimeters, the same dimensions as the BEV version.
The PHEV variant comes with four-wheel drive as standard, with a maximum combined power of 390 kW, peak torque of 810 Nm and a top speed of 200 kilometers per hour.
The model has a CLTC range of 262 km on battery power and a combined range of 1,260 km on full fuel and full charge.
Voyah claimed that the Zhuiguang PHEV is equipped with the L2.9 assisted driving system, which includes 31 high-performance sensing hardware and 36 intelligent driver assistance functions.
According to current Chinese regulations, assisted driving systems are all L2, and drivers need to be aware of their surroundings at all times and be responsible for possible accidents.
Customers can pay RMB 2,000 to reserve the Zhuiguang PHEV and receive a RMB 3,000 reduction when making the final payment.
Voyah is also offering customers booking this new variant an upgrade package worth RMB 25,000 and a maintenance package worth RMB 5,000.
Shortly after the Zhuiguang PHEV started pre-sales, Voyah announced that the model took 5 hours and 11 minutes to see more than 10,000 pre-orders.
Voyah is a brand announced by Dongfeng Motor at the end of 2020, with the first model, the Voyah Free, launched in China in June 2021, offering a version with extended-range technology as well as an all-electric version.
On May 7, 2022, Voyah's second model, the Dream MPV, went on sale, with deliveries beginning two months later.
