China's retail sales of passenger new energy vehicles (NEVs) in August were 698,000 units, up 32 percent year-on-year and up 9 percent from July, preliminary data released today by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) showed.
On August 24, the CPCA said that China's estimated retail sales of passenger NEVs in August would be around 700,000 units.
In January through August, China's passenger NEV retail sales were 4,424,000 units, up 36 percent year-on-year, according to the CPCA.

In the January-August period, wholesale sales of passenger NEVs in China were 5.086 million units, up 39 percent year-on-year.
China's retail sales of all passenger vehicles in August were 1.902 million units, up 2 percent year-on-year and up 7 percent from July, according to the CPCA.
This means that the penetration rate of passenger NEVs at retail was 36.69 percent in August, down from 37.31 percent in July.
Retail sales of all passenger vehicles in China from January to August amounted to 13.199 million units, up 2 percent year-on-year.

In the first week of August, from August 1 to August 6, average daily retail sales of passenger cars in China were 40,150 units, down 1 percent year-on-year and up 9 percent from the same period in July.
In the second week of August, from August 7 to August 13, daily average retail sales of passenger cars in China were 49,051 units, up 13 percent year-on-year and up 16 percent from the same period in July.
In the third week of August, from August 14 to August 20, daily average retail sales of passenger cars in China were 51,869 units, up 3 percent year-on-year and up 3 percent from the same period of the previous month.
In the fourth week of August, from August 21 to August 27, daily average retail sales of passenger cars in China were 58,396 units, up 7 percent year-on-year and down 8 percent from the same period of the previous month.
In the fifth week of August, from August 28 to August 31, the daily average retail sales of passenger cars in China were 136,568 units, down 7 percent year-on-year and up 20 percent from the same period of the previous month.
