BYD (OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has launched the Dolphin electric vehicle (EV) in Thailand, as the Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) giant brings the compact car to more markets.

BYD held a launch event with its Thai partner Rêver Automotive on July 6 to introduce the model to local customers.

BYD offers the Dolphin in Thailand in standard range and extended range versions at a starting price of 699,999 baht ($19,880) and 859,999 baht respectively.

The BYD Dolphin was launched in China on August 29, 2021 and currently has a starting price of RMB 116,800 ($16,140) in its home market.

The model is the first to be built on BYD's e-Platform 3.0 platform and is the first product in its Ocean series.

On March 21, BYD showcased the standard range version of the Dolphin at the 44th Bangkok International Motor Show.

BYD's sales and aftersales network in Thailand already covers the vast majority of the country, and the number of BYD stores in Thailand is expected to reach 60 within this month, the NEV maker said at the launch yesterday.

BYD has launched two models in Thailand, with cumulative deliveries to date exceeding 15,000 units, it said.

The company launched the Atto 3 in Thailand in October 2022. The Atto 3 is known as Yuan Plus and was officially launched in China on February 19, 2022.

The Yuan Plus is BYD's first global model, but the company is bringing the Dolphin to the global market.

BYD launched four models in Jordan on March 9 -- the BYD Dolphin, Tang EV, Atto 3 and Han EV.

On May 3, BYD held a brand launch in Quito, Ecuador, and made the Han EV, Yuan Plus EV and Dolphin models available in the country.

On May 24, BYD Dolphin was launched in Hong Kong.

In the past 10 days, BYD has brought the Dolphin to the Australian, Brazilian and Singaporean markets.

BYD sold 253,046 NEVs in June, including 31,140 Dolphins.

In June, BYD sold 10,536 NEVs in overseas markets, up 3.26 percent from 10,203 units in May.
