Insurance registrations for new energy vehicles (NEVs) in China increased slightly last week compared to the previous week, with mixed performance from major automakers.
For the week of March 13 to March 19, insurance registrations for all passenger vehicles in China were 310,341, up 0.52 percent from the previous week and up 3.96 percent from the same period last month, according to figures from automotive industry consultancy ThinkerCar.
Insurance registrations for NEVs were 112,650 last week, up 4.53 percent from the previous week and up 15.49 percent from the same period last month.
Insurance registrations for conventional internal combustion engine vehicles were 197,691 units, down 1.63 percent from the previous week and down 1.64 percent from the same period last month.
BYD (OTCMKTS: BYDDY) vehicles continued to see the most insurance registrations, with 38,414 last week, up from 37,141 the previous week.
BYD's all-electric models registered 19,262 insurance units last week, a 3.1 percent decrease from the previous week. Its plug-in hybrid model had a volume of 19,152 units, up 10.9 percent from the previous week.
Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) vehicles saw 18,712 insurance registrations last week, up from 17,032 the week before.
Tesla Model 3 insurance registrations last week were 6,6234 units, up 9.45 percent from the previous week. Model Y was 12,478 units, up 10.07 percent from the previous week.
Nio (NYSE: NIO) was 1,775 units last week, down from 2,170 units the week before. This includes 1,263 ET5s, 133 ES6s, 131 EC6s, 107 ES7s, 91 ET7s and 50 ES8s.
Nio guided for first-quarter deliveries between 31,000 and 33,000 units earlier this month, meaning March deliveries are expected to be between 10,337 and 12,337 units.
The company's insurance registrations for the first week of March, which included February 27 and February 28, were 3,345 units.
Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) vehicles registered 5,438 insurance units last week, up from 4,243 the previous week. This includes 2,261 Li L7s, 1,625 Li L8s, 1,335 Li L9s, and 216 discontinued Li ONEs.
Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) was 1,296 units last week, down from 1,635 units the week before. There were 475 units of P7, 22 units of G9, 448 units of P5 and 152 units of G3 series.
Zeekr was 914 units last week, down from 1,043 units the week before. Zeekr 001 was 471 units and Zeekr 009 was 442 units.
