Ora appears to be aiming the Lightning Cat to reach a broader demographic than just female consumers, targeting one of the most competitive and spacious markets in China.

Great Wall Motor's electric vehicle (EV) brand Ora's new model, the Lightning Cat, has officially launched, most notably with a Porsche-like exterior design.

Ora officially made the Lightning Cat available during a launch event on Monday evening, offering four versions priced at RMB 189,800 ($25,980), 203,800, 239,800 and 269,800 after subsidies. Their official guide prices are RMB 201,200, RMB 215,200, RMB 252,500, and RMB 282,500, respectively.

Under China's current policy, consumers can enjoy state purchase subsidies for new energy vehicle (NEV) models for less than RMB 300,000, unless these models support battery swap. The policy will expire at the end of the year.

The car is an electric coupe with a length, width and height of 4,871 mm, 1,862 mm and 1,500 mm respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,870 mm. Its overall design is reminiscent of a Porsche sedan, especially the rear.

The Ora Lightning Cat has a peak power of 150 kW and a peak torque of 340 Nm in the single-motor version and a peak power of 300 kW and a peak torque of 680 Nm in the dual-motor version, which can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds.

The four versions of the Ora Lightning Cat have a CLTC range of 555 km, 555 km, 705 km and 600 km respectively, with the highest priced model with a range of 600 km being the four-wheel drive version and the other versions being the two-wheel drive version.

The models with a range of 555 km are equipped with lithium iron phosphate battery packs, while the models with a range of 705 km and 600 km are equipped with ternary lithium battery packs.

All four versions take at least 30 minutes to charge from 30 percent to 80 percent.

The car is equipped with ORA-PILOT 3.0 assisted driving system with 28 sensors as well as vision cameras and radar.

The model's specifications and positioning are aimed at one of the most competitive and spacious segments in China, with competitors including Seal, BYD Han, Changan's Shenlan SL03, and even 's Model 3.

It's unclear if the model will stand out in the fierce competition, but Ora clearly has high hopes for it.

Ora has previously emphasized that its models are aimed at female customers, but has not continued to do so with the Lightning Cat, possibly in an attempt to make its models reach a broader group.

Ora sold 7,605 units in September, down 40 percent from the same month last year, according to data released by Great Wall Motor earlier this month.

Ora is expected to provide an update on its October sales figures this week.
