WeChat, the most popular instant messaging app in China, now supports some models from more than 10 carmakers, including Li Auto.
The WeChat website recently published a description page for WeChat for vehicles, showing some models from 15 automakers, including Li Auto, Audi, BMW and JAC.
WeChat for vehicles has finished adapting to the vehicles it supports when the cars leave the factory, and other models are unable to use the app, according to the description.
"More carmakers are in the process of being included," the page reads.
WeChat is China's most popular instant chat tool and has a large number of users overseas.
Tencent reported third-quarter earnings in November last year that showed it had 1.26 billion users worldwide.
Tencent announced WeChat for vehicles in August 2019, a product tailored to the driving scenario.
To allow drivers to focus on the road rather than their phones, Tencent has made extensive adjustments to WeChat for driving scenario interactions and features.
The instructions on the WeChat for vehicles page show that its primary interaction is voice commands, which do not require users to touch the screen. In the driving scenario, users can always focus on the driving itself.
With the buttons on the steering wheel, drivers can quickly wake up WeChat for vehicles and can listen to messages, reply to messages, and answer and hang up voice calls.
